 How to use a mantra

effectively:

- take a concious, slow, deep breath, expanding your belly & a long extensive exhale

- whisper or say aloud the mantra after each exhale

- repeat often

Child’s Home Library Starter List

July 24, 2018

Krista

Anytime I get invited to a baby shower I know exactly what my gift will be, a starter home library.

Books in the early years are truly priceless. Packed full of adventure, imagination, life lessons and character building, books are our child’s first portal into life on this planet, and there are a few boxes I make sure to tick along the way.

Every time I buy the starter library set, the b...

Majoring in Motherhood

May 14, 2018

Mother's Day has always been a day of introspection for me. I find myself looking in the mirror and really reflecting on the changes that have happened. It typically starts with a quick thought about the Mother's Day before it, and then bit by bit how the year unfolded. Becoming a mother defined me in ways I could've never imagined before having kids, but what's really cool about it all i...

Slow Down and Connect

February 25, 2018

Lately I’ve been having little moments of awe while sitting in a room with my family.

I’ve got a perfect-for-me husband, two beautiful and healthy children and a house full of love and compassion. Things in our house are just feeling right.

It’s not always this way, and 2017 might of had more hard days than easy ones, but 2018 is so far so good.

I then started to reflect on what brings my...

Are people actually eating animals mom?

February 23, 2018

At one point in Zinnia’s life, Shane and I realized that Zinnia thought chicken (the animal) and chicken (the food) were two different things. Much like an ant or an aunt.

We laughed at this idea but felt relief in the fact that we had a bit more time before having to break the truth to her. Until now.

I’m not an in-your-face vegan activist, but something about being a mother and thinking...

February 1, 2018

Are you okay mom?

Today I feel drained, my love.

What does drained mean mama?

It’s when someone or yourself is feeling tired and worn out, my love.

Ohh, so you’re tired today, right mama?

I am, my love.

Can we go play mom?

There are a few things I need to do this morning before we play. I’ll need to do just these few things, and then we’ll play whatever you want. Does that sound okay, my love?

N...

Two kids. This is no joke my fellow mamas. If I ever made it seem like I had anything but utmost respect for mama's with more than 1 baby, please accept my sincerest apologies now.

Since having Ash my world has been far from the same. Are things familiar? Yes. Are they easy? Nope. Not one little bit.

In honor of #letstalk day, I thought I’d chime in with my own experiences.

Like most peop...

Our Birth Story

October 27, 2017

Ash Christopher Beehler arrived on October 7th 2017 at 9:31am. He was 8 lbs and 21 inches long. He was healthy and calm. Within 30 minutes of being born he breastfed 4 times in a row. We were all home in bed as a family within 3 hours from the minute he entered this world.

This is our birth story.

I woke up from bed around 1:30am and had to pee (as I had been doing, multiple times a nigh...

Baby number two, I'm ready for ya!

October 5, 2017

As my due date approaches I find myself in a completely different headspace than my first pregnancy.

I had a scheduled induction (which I didn't end up needing) and the day before I was set to deliver I was an inconsolable mess. I couldn't even get on the phone to talk it out with my mom or husband. I just cried. Literally, all day.

In my defence, if I even need it, giving birth for the f...

A gut wrenching reality

August 31, 2017

Recently wonder woman and I were out for a walk to our local park. While walking the path and approaching our friends we were passed by a pack of young girls on scooters. These girls ranging from age 7-9 years old were going very fast by us when one of them said "let's go faster and work off a little weight before school starts so we can get a boyfriend" to which the rest replied rather e...

First True Love

August 15, 2017

I recently finished a book by Alexandra Solomon titled Loving Bravely .

I'm a sucker for non-fiction books that help me grow as a person, mother, partner or better yet, all of the above.

I first heard about it when Alexandra was a guest speaker on the Zen Parenting podcast.

Aside from ah-ha moments throughout, Alexandra offers multiple exercises to help you work through your position in lo...
